See All ReviewsEverything was extremely greasy, this place also costs a bit. If you want some good BBQ head down to 441 and go to the Sonny's. The place is "pretty" but the food didn't match the standards.
Enjoyed our stop today. I had the Pork sandwich with mac n cheese, delish! Love that Sweet Sauce! The chopped pork was juicy and tender. My husband had the Prime Rib sandwich with fries. This sandwich was piled high with tender prime rib and balanced nicely with sauteed onions and cheese. He didn't even offer me a bite! Really liked the shabby-chic decor too. We will be back!
Today is the day after hurricane Irma. We were delighted to see that a place called Backwoods was open so we went inside to ask if they were serving. They said that they were doing a limited menu of orders to go. We glanced around the restaurant, and there were 8 -10 people eating at the tables from styrofoam to-go containers...fine with us. The man (owner I think) called Danielle (his wife I think thus also an owner) out from the kitchen to let her know thetr were two people who wanted to order. We said, "Hello, Danielle" to which she replied, "I am getting really tired of hearing my name today." I get it. There's no air conditioning and who really wants to be there working, right? We ordered a prime rib sandwich $7 and pulled pork $5 so a $12 order. We gave her a $20 bill and asked for $3 back. No acknowledgment or thank you...also fine. The food came out pretty quickly, and we asked if we could sit there to eat as long as we cleaned up after ourselves. She was very clear that it was a to-go order, and we were not welcome to sit there and eat. I couldn't help but wonder why all the other people were allowed to do so? We asked for two waters $1 each (no tip this time) and left with our to-go containers. I wish I was able to share a different review...about how a bright spot from the hurricane was that we tried Backwoods for the first time. Unfortunately the way that Danielle treated us was enough to keep us from ever returning. It really is a shame, too, because the food is outstanding, and being local, I am sure we would have returned often.
